A Tennessee warbler in a Locust tree active anting. Active anting is the process of when birds will grab an ant (in this case an Allegheny mound ant) squeeze the ant, and then rub the ant on their body. When the ant is squeezed it releases formic acid. You can actually see the formic acid spraying out of the ants in this footage.
